These pages contain links to software that will run on a Macintosh
Plus, and therefore will work within Mini vMac. They only list software
that is being distributed by the copyright owner, and so
definitely legal, as far as I can tell. (As compared to
software that probably no one minds any more who
distributes it. There are some other good websites that
cover abandonware.)
If you know of any more such software, please let me know. I've not tested these programs too thoroughly, but the nice thing about an emulator such as Mini vMac is that you can try out programs without risk. Software running within the emulated machine can only affect mounted disk images. So when trying out software, you can work with copies of your disk images, and then throw out these copies when you are done. No harm is possible (unless, of course, there is a serious bug in Mini vMac). These pages only list software with an official web address of some sort, and don't include software that is only in freeware/shareware archives. This restriction is mainly to limit the task to a more manageable size. For the same reason these pages are restricted to 68k code such as applications, control panels, and extensions, and don't include hypercard stacks, applescripts, z-code adventures, and such. Another such restriction is that the software can be figured out by someone whose only language is english. |
